Malaysian club to host Asian World Cup qualifier
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP)
The Seri Selangor Golf Club has been unveiled as venue for the Aug. 3-6 Asian qualifiers for the Omega Mission Hills World Cup.
The top three nations from the August qualifying tournament in Malaysia will earn places at the $7.5 million World Cup at Hainan Island, China in November.
It will be the third time the par-71 Seri Selangor club has hosted the two-man team qualifying tournament.
Other qualifying tournaments will be staged in Europe and South America.
''Asian players rarely have the opportunity to represent their countries in team professional golf tournaments. I'm sure the leading nations in the region will be determined to send their best players to the qualifier,'' Asian Tour Executive Chairman Kyi Hla Han said.
