Report: Ogilvy, Allenby settle feud
Allenby is due to jet in to Melbourne, Australia, from Florida on Sunday for his annual Challenge cancer charity golf day Monday, and sources told The (Sydney) Sunday Telegraph the repair work has already been done to clear the air with Ogilvy before both tee up in the JBWere Masters at Victoria Golf Club on Thursday.
Fellow pros, caddies and golf fans were stunned last month when they witnessed the duo exchanging strong words in the crowded Village Square at Hyatt Coolum in Queensland after the final round of the Australian PGA Championship.
There were reports of a smashed glass at the table where the conversation took place, but witnesses said it was not as a result of a physical clash between the pair, the Herald Sun reported at the time.
The confrontation brought to a head the angst triggered by Allenby's comments that international team playing partners Ogilvy, Y.E. Yang and Retief Goosen were partly responsible for him finishing pointless in the Presidents Cup last month, as the US went on to claim victory.
"Everyone's making me look like I'm playing like sh*t," Allenby said.
"When you're relying on someone else as well, it's sometimes not just you. It can be other people hitting you in the sh*t."
Ogilvy stayed silent publicly, but when Allenby surged into PGA contention at the Australian PGA Championship, he tweeted, "Warms the heart to see Robert playing so well this week."
The Herald Sun understands that message prompted Allenby to approach Ogilvy at the Hyatt Coolum.
