News: Van Zyl announced he will withdraw from both the British Open and the PGA Championship to prepare for the Olympics, the Golf Channel reports.
Impact: Branden Grace, Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel withdrew from consideration for the Olympics, so Van Zyl and Brandon Stone will represent South Africa. Van Zyl's decision hurts his value considerably in most fantasy formats.

News: Van Zyl missed the cut by eight strokes at the U.S. Open, firing rounds of 75-78.
Impact: The 59th-ranked player in the world struggled from start to finish. He carded three more double bogeys than birdies on the week, and let Oakmont's speedy greens get the best of him. Van Zyl will head back overseas and look to rebound at the BMW International Championship.

News: Van Zyl will be making his US Open debut at Oakmont this week.
Impact: Van Zyl is a European Tour player who has climbed up within the Top-60 in the Official World Golf Rankings to qualify for the US Open. He recently finished in a tie for seventh among an elite field at the BMW PGA Championship, and hits a solid 62% of fairways. The South African is relatively unknown and could make for a solid sleeper pick at Oakmont, especially if he can get his putter rolling.
