News: Mahan shot a plus-15 295 to finish in 72nd place at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
Impact: Mahan has not been playing his best golf of late. He had three straight top-25 finishes, including two top-10s, in the month of April. Since then he has missed three cuts in his nine events, and has not finished better than T39 in any of them. In his last five events he has gone Cut, Cut, T49, T63, and now 72nd.

News: Mahan missed the cut at the Travelers Championship this week, tying for 102nd place with a two-round total of 141.
Impact: Mahan has now missed the cut in two straight tournaments, including the US Open, and has not notched a top-35 finish since April.

News: Mahan did not finish better than a T39 in his four events in the month of May, but his strong play in April resulted in a top-10 finish at the first major of the year, the Masters.
Impact: Mahan has had an up-and-down season, so it is hard to gauge his level entering the U.S. Open. He had not finished in the top-10 of any event in 2015 before his T9 finish at the Masters, so he is worth keeping an eye on at the U.S. Open despite his down month of May.
