News: McDowell posted rounds of 73-67-73-72 at the BMW Championship to finish three in the red on the week and T42.
Impact: After a slow start to the week, McDowell soared back into contention with a five-under 67 on Friday. This elevated him back into contention at Crooked Stick, but more importantly for a spot in East Lake. A weekend plagued by six bogeys and a double, however, effectively sealed the world number 78's fate, leaving him 18 spots out of the TOUR Championship. McDowell will hope to recover after a slow 2016 season took him down 21 spots in the OWGR.

News: McDowell closed with a two-under 68 on Sunday to finish 14-under and tied for fifth at the Wyndham Championship.
Impact: If it wasn't for an iffy short-game performance throughout the week, McDowell could've had a shot at the top of the leaderboard as he struck the ball well and also felt comfortable with the putter. The 37-year-old had missed back-to-back cuts on Tour heading into this past week's event at Sedgefield CC, so the turnaround comes at a good time with the Barclays approaching.

News: McDowell missed the cut at golf's final major of the year after posting rounds of 74-75.
Impact: With just one birdie on the week relative to eight bogeys and a double, Baltusrol gave McDowell some fits. He lost over four strokes to the field from tee to green, but did the most damage to his scorecard putting, where he averaged over two putts per green in regulation. McDowell has now missed consecutive cuts, and will look to get back in form as the season winds down.
