The skinny: Only 16 and still an amateur, Ko won a pro event for the fourth time (two on the LPGA Tour). She also successfully defended the Canadian title she won last year at age 15. One shot back of Caroline Hedwall entering the final round, Ko pulled away on Sunday for a five-shot victory. In the process, became the first amateur to win more than one LPGA Tour event.

Event: British Open
Site: St. Andrews, The Old Course at Fife, Scotland
Dates: Aug. 1-4
Winner's scores: 67-72-69-72 — 280, 8 under

The skinny: Going into the 17th hole, Stacy Lewis stood at 2 over par for the final round and was in danger of giving away her lead. But she stepped up when it mattered, knocking in birdies on both of the final two holes to get back to even par for the round and win by two strokes. The win gave Lewis her second career major and ended a record streak of 10 consecutive majors won by Asian golfers. It also marked the end of Inbee Park's attempt to become the only golfer, male or female, to win four straight majors.

The skinny: A head-to-head duel between Recari and Paula Creamer in the final round of the Marathon Classic was great theater. The skinny: Park birdied the third hole of a sudden-death playoff with Catriona Matthew to win the rain-delayed LPGA Championship, bringing a dramatic finish to a marathon of a day in which organizers were forced to squeeze in the final two rounds after torrential rain postponed the first round. Park rebounded in the playoff after blowing a three-shot lead with a closing 3-over 75. Winner's scores: 41-43-42—126, 11 under

The skinny: A crazy week of weather caused flooding over so much of the Ocean Club course that the tour's best option was to shorten the course to 12 holes and play three rounds to reach the 36 holes required for an official event. That led to strange round scores and an usual total score, but Ilhee Lee overcame the elements to earn her first career LPGA Tour victory.
