Samuel Eto'o ended his brief international retirement and captained Cameroon in a 0-0 draw at Tunisia. Eto'o started in Rades after being convinced by Cameroon President Paul Biya to rejoin the squad.

The striker and captain had said last month that he was quitting the national team for undisclosed personal reasons after helping Cameroon qualify for the final playoffs.

But coach Volker Finke wanted Eto'o to return and the Chelsea forward was convinced to link up with the squad again this week ahead of the crucial playoff in Tunisia after a meeting with a representative of Cameroon President Paul Biya.

The 32-year-old Eto'o is Cameroon's all-time leading scorer and has won the African Cup with his country and Champions League titles at club level.

The second leg is Nov. 17.

On Saturday, Ivory Coast beat visiting Senegal 3-1 and Burkina Faso won 3-2 at home against Algeria. Ghana hosts Egypt on Tuesday.
