FOX Chat: United States vs. Mexico
The United States women's national team finishes group play in CONCACAF's Olympic qualifying tournament tonight when they face Mexico, 10:30 p.m. EST at BC Place in Vancouver, British Colombia.
Pia Sundhage's side sit top of their qualifying group, having already secured a place in the tournament's semifinals while accumulating a 27-0 goal difference. Tonight, however, is their toughest match thus far, needing a draw against a fellow World Cup-qualifier to avoid rival Canada in the final four. A win means the US would face Costa Rica, with a place in the 2012 Summer Olympics at stake.
The US is the defending Olympic gold medalists, with the 2008 squad having defeated Brazil in the finals at the 2008 games in China.
Tonight, the Americans face a Mexican national team that beat them at World Cup qualifying, forcing the US into a playoff against Italy for the final spot at Germany 2011.
Join us as we chat throughout tonight's rematch, with FOX Soccer editor Richard Farley starting the festivities at 10:15 p.m. EST, senior writer Jamie Trecker joining via on Twitter.
