FIRST 100 YEARS

Relive USA's greatest moments through their 100 year history.

United States women's national team manager Tom Sermanni named Hope Solo, Abby Wambach and Alex Morgan to his 18-player roster that will face Mexico on Sept. 3 at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. (live, FOX Sports 1, Tuesday, 8 p.m. ET).

Due to limited training time, Sermanni did not call up any European-based players with the exception of Yael Averbuch, who already will be on the East Coast to attend a wedding.

Wambach set the career goals mark earlier this season, surpassing Mia Hamm, and has 160 international goals. Morgan is recovering from an injury suffered while playing for Portland of the National Women's Soccer League. Solo was the anchor of the Americans' gold medal run at the London Olympics last year.

Morgan, who was diagnosed with a mild MCL sprain in her left knee earlier this month, was named to the roster but will not play if she is not deemed healthy according to Sermanni.

"We will evaluate Alex's recovery from her injury when she comes into camp," said Sermanni. "At this point, the most important thing is that she is completely fit and healthy. If our medical staff says she's ready to play, then she'll play."

The roster features 15 players from the NWSL; two college players in Crystal Dunn from North Carolina and Morgan Brian from Virginia; and Averbuch, who plays for Goteborg FC in Sweden. While the roster features the usual veteran contingent, Sermanni did give first call-ups to defender Leigh Ann Robinson and midfielder Erika Tymrak.

The international match will be the first for the USA following the conclusion of the National Women’s Soccer League season, which will culminate with the championship game on Saturday, Aug. 31.

The meeting between the two regional rivals in the nation’s capital will mark the first international soccer match on the new FOX Sports 1, America’s new sports network.
