Mexican first division side Club Tijuana is going to be in a fight to avoid relegation when the Clausura season begins in 2012, but now the Xolos are set to add another American to help with that cause.

Just weeks after adding US national team defender/midfielder Edgar Castillo, Club Tijuana is set to sign US Under-23 defender Greg Garza on a free transfer, sources told FOX Soccer on Friday.

Garza, 20, has spent part of the pre-season with Club Tijuana after the team received a recommendation about Garza from fellow US Under-23 selection Joe Corona. Garza has made enough of an impression to secure a contract, having left US Under-23 national team camp in Florida on Friday to finalize his new contract.

Garza originally signed with Portuguese side Sporting Club CP as a youth prospect, but after failing to land a senior contract, he signed with Portuguese second division club Estoril Praia. Joining Estorial as a 19-year-old, spent one year in Estorial before moving on as a free agent.

One of the top young left back prospects in the US youth national team set-up, Garza is a contender for a roster spot on the team that could eventually represent the United States at the 2012 Olympics.
