West Ham has signed Brazilian forward Wellington Paulista on a six-month loan from Cruzeiro.

The mid-table Premier League club has an option to sign the 29-year-old Wellington on a three-year deal at the end of the season.

Joe Cole and Marouane Chamakh have already bolstered West Ham's attacking options this month by joining from Liverpool and Arsenal, respectively.

Wellington can play as a winger or a striker.

West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan described Wellington as a ''wild card'' signing, saying ''although he may not be that well known on these shores, he comes with an excellent track record in Brazil.''
