The Italian owners of Watford have replaced one Italian manager with another by hiring Giuseppe Sannino.

Two days after Gianfranco Zola resigned from the second-tier club, Sannino has been handed his first job outside Italy by the Pozzo family.

The 56-year-old Sannino has been out of work since being fired last month by Chievo.

Watford is 13th in the 24-team League Championship and is winless in its last nine games.
