LONDON (AP)

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho wants Ashley Cole to stay at the club but believes the defender could be persuaded to move to Major League Soccer.

The contract of the England national team left back expires at the end of the season, and there has been speculation he might want to join former Arsenal teammate Thierry Henry on the New York Red Bulls.

Mourinho says the 33-year-old has a future at Chelsea ''but maybe Thierry has a better proposal.''
