Guinean authorities have banned an opposition party protest planned for Thursday so it doesn't disrupt a visit by FIFA president Sepp Blatter.

Sekou Resco Camara, the governer of Conakry, says the march won't be allowed in the capital as ''we cannot accept that a visit of such importance is disrupted.''

Camara says the Guinean Football Federation made the request to ensure ''a warm welcome'' for the head of world football. A spokesman says security forces will be deployed on the streets of Conakry to prevent any protests.

Blatter will make a two-day visit to Guinea as part of a four-country tour of Africa. He also visits Mauritania and Botswana and ends his trip in South Africa to attend Sunday's African Cup of Nations final in Johannesburg.
