Fred added to Brazil's squad; Ronaldinho still out

Striker Fred has been added to Brazil's squad for its final friendly before the World Cup team is announced, but coach Luiz Felipe Scolari is keeping former star Ronaldinho out of the team.

Striker Jo and goalkeeper Jefferson also were called up for the game against South Africa on March 5 at Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg, while the 33-year-old Ronaldinho now is down to one last chance to make the World Cup in June.

Fred has been a regular in Scolari's team but there had been doubts whether he would be called up because of recent muscle injuries.

Scolari had already picked 16 players from international teams, but decided to wait until Monday to announce the players from Brazilian clubs because many were not in top form yet.
