Van Bommel joined the Rossoneri on a short-term deal in the January transfer window but did enough to earn a contract for this season. City had been in for the 34-year-old then too, and Van Bommel was in no mood to change his mind when the Premier League side came back with another offer. "City first tried to sign me last winter, they were one of the clubs interested in me, so their interest has not come out of the blue," Van Bommel said. "But Milan has a very clear position and I am perfectly happy to live with that, my family feels at home here. I feel good as a footballer here and feel fully appreciated." Agent Mino Raiola added: "They have the problem that Yaya Toure will spend considerable time out because of the matches for the African Cup. "In addition, they also know that Mark would be excellent alongside Nigel de Jong. Hence they came in again for him."
