Manchester City will check on the fitness of captain Vincent Kompany and midfielder Gareth Barry for Sunday's game against Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium.

Kompany has missed the last four games with a calf injury and, if he is still unavailable, then Joleon Lescott is likely to partner Matija Nastasic, while Barry has an ankle knock.

Carlos Tevez featured against Leeds in the FA Cup last weekend after missing the 3-1 defeat at Southampton on compassionate grounds and he should start again alongside Sergio Aguero up front.

Chelsea will bring Frank Lampard and Branislav Ivanovic back into the team after the duo were rested for the Europa League draw against Sparta Prague.

Ashley Cole will also be restored to the starting line-up, while Rafa Benitez must decide which two of Gary Cahill, David Luiz and John Terry will start at centre-half.

Demba Ba is available again after being cup-tied for the 1-1 draw against Sparta on Thursday and he is pushing to replace Fernando Torres in the starting line-up.
