Landon Donovan returned to top form on the same night the Los Angeles Galaxy played their best match of the season.

Robbie Keane is pretty sure those two developments are related - and they're both good news for the two-time defending MLS champions.

Donovan scored a goal and set up another for his first points since his return to soccer, and the Galaxy snapped Sporting Kansas City's 545-minute streak of shutout defense during a 2-0 victory Saturday night.

''Don't count the old guy out just yet,'' the 31-year-old Donovan said with a laugh. ''I've still got a little bit more to give.''

Donovan set up Marcelo Sarvas' 27th-minute goal before scoring his own goal on a pass from Keane in the 74th minute for the Galaxy (3-1-2), who ended a four-match winless skid with big performances from their two biggest stars.

Blas Perez scored in the second half, Raul Fernandez made three saves for his fourth shutout of the season and FC Dallas beat the Vancouver Whitecaps 2-0 Saturday night.

Perez now has three goals in five games for league-leading Dallas (6-1-1), which also benefited from an own goal by Vancouver's Brad Rusin to improve to 5-0-1 in its last six matches.

FC Dallas remained perfect at home, winning all five contests by a combined 9-2 margin - including three straight shutouts.

Dax McCarty and Fabian Espindola scored in the first half to lead the New York Red Bulls to a 4-1 victory over the New England Revolution on Saturday night.

Thierry Henry and Jonny Steele had second-half goals to help the Red Bulls (3-4-2) extend the Revolution's winless streak to 0-3-2.

New England (1-3-2) has not won at New York since 2007, a span of eight games.

MLS POWER RANKINGS

Believe it or not, FC Dallas makes strong claim as league title contender.

Jeff Larentowicz scored in the 83rd minute to lift the Chicago Fire to a 1-0 victory over the Columbus Crew on Saturday night.

Larentowicz headed Austin Berry's pass by Columbus goalkeeper Andy Gruenebaum from five yards out to cap a furious rally that saw Chicago take 16 shots at the Crew goal in the second half.

Chicago (2-4-1) won for the second time in three matches to climb out of a tie at the bottom of the Eastern Conference. Sean Johnson made two saves for his second shutout of the season.

The Crew (2-2-3) snapped their four-game unbeaten streak (1-0-3).

Javier Morales scored on a header in the 53rd minute and Real Salt Lake beat Chivas USA 1-0 on Saturday night.

Salt Lake (3-3-2) moved one point ahead of Chivas into second place in the Western Conference.

Chivas USA (3-3-1) has now lost two straight games while failing to score a goal in either match.

Obafemi Martins scored in the 27th minute to lead the Seattle Sounders to a 1-0 victory over the Colorado Rapids on Saturday.

Seattle (1-3-2) beat Colorado for the seventh straight time and got its first win of the season. The Sounders have scored just three goals while being shut out three times.

Warren Creavalle scored on a header off a corner kick late in second-half stoppage to give the Houston Dynamo a 1-1 tie with Toronto FC on Saturday in cold, windy conditions

Jeremy Hall opened the scoring for Toronto with a long shot in the 58th minute. Toronto (1-2-4), which settled for its fourth straight draw, also gave up the tying score in stoppage time last Saturday against Philadelphia.
