FC Dallas has signed Argentine midfielder Mauro Diaz pending receipt of his international transfer papers.

Diaz made his debut as a 17-year-old for the River Plate club in Argentina in 2008. He scored three goals in 53 appearances before being loaned to Union Espanola in Chile last year.

The 22-year-old Diaz returned to River Plate earlier this year.

FC Dallas started strong but is winless in its past seven games and lost at home for the first time this season 3-0 to Real Salt Lake on Saturday.
