Chivas gets first win of Apertura

Chivas recorded their first victory of the Mexican Apertura football season on Sunday with a 1-0 win over Atlante, while archrivals America downed Atlas 3-0 Saturday.
Mexico international Rafa Marquez Lugo broke free in the 59 the minute and finished with the outside of his foot for Chivas - one of Mexico's most popular clubs.
America took the lead when Narciso Mina headed in a cross in the 26th, with Raul Jimenez getting the second in the 69th and Argentine Rubens Sambueza finishing the scoring from a direct freekick in the 77th.
Veracruz leads the standings after four rounds on 10 points after defeating Cruz Azul 3-2 on Saturday, while Morelia moved to second following its 2-1 victory over Tijuana.
Pablo Barrera opened the scoring for Cruz Azul in the 31st minute, with a finish from a tight angle, but Veracruz took advantage when Israel Castro was sent off in the 56th for a foul inside the penalty area.
Angel Reyna converted the penalty, with Jesus Chiapas edging Veracruz into the lead with a long-range strike in the 67th and Reyna increasing the difference ten minutes later.
An own goal from Adrian Cortes in second half injury time gave Cruz Azul a brief flicker of hope.
Chilean Hector Mancilla scored both Morelia's goals before Rodrigo Salinas was sent off in the 55th. Ecuadorian Fidel Martinez pulled one back for Tijuana in the 65th.
In other results, Tigres defeated Pumas 2-0, Chiapas won 4-2 against Puebla, Monterrey drew 1-1 with Toluca, Santos Laguna overcame Queretaro 2-0 and Pachuca drew 1-1 with Leon.
