Milan Bisevac's early goal proved enough for Paris St Germain to maintain their three-point lead at the top of Ligue 1 with a 1-0 victory at Brest.

The Serbia centre-back converted Christophe Jallet's corner in the sixth minute, and the visitors almost doubled their lead four minutes before the break when Mathieu Bodmer hit the bar.

In the end though one goal proved enough to keep Montpellier, who beat Nice 1-0, at arm's length.

PSG raced out of the blocks and could have been ahead in the fourth minute when Kevin Gameiro's backheel from Bodmer's pass set up Nene, but his first-time shot was well saved by Steve Elana.

They only had to wait another two minutes to strike though as Jallet's corner found Bisevac in the middle of a static Brest defence and he volleyed home via a slight deflection off Bruno Grougi.

Brest suffered a further blow two minutes later when defender Jonathan Zebina sustained an injury and had to be replaced by Brahim Ferradj.

The hosts' first chance of note came after 13 minutes as Alexandre Alphonse's effort from Romain Poyet's cross was saved by PSG keeper Salvatore Sirigu.

At the other end Kevin Gameiro controlled on his chest before seeing his volley saved by the foot of Elana.

Sirigu had to be alert just before the half hour to keep out Alphonse's volley after good work from Grougi.

But it was the visitors who came closest to adding to their tally when Bodmer volleyed Nene's free-kick against the bar just before the break.

Mario Licka's first-time shot brought a save out of Sirigu four minutes after the restart, but the half was dominated by Carlo Ancelotti's men.

Elana made two good saves to deny Nene, while Bodmer's shot skimmed the crossbar, but they could not add to Bisevac's strike.
