Real Madrid eased into the fifth round of the Copa del Rey with a 3-0 win over Alcoyano on Tuesday and a 7-1 victory on aggregate over the third-division side.

Their progression was never in doubt after a 4-1 first-leg triumph and strikes from Angel Di Maria and a late brace from Jose Callejon saw them to a 3-0 win on the night.

With the tie over, boss Jose Mourinho rested a host of big names with only Luka Modric, Mesut Ozil and Callejon the only regulars who started the contest.

Alcoyano, who had beat Tenerife to set up the tie, played the final 18 minutes with 10 men after Javi Selvas saw red after receiving two yellow cards.

Mid-table Segunda B outfit Las Palmas caused an upset as they beat top tier side Rayo Vallecano. Taking a one-goal lead from the first leg, the side from Gran Canaria held out for a goaless draw at the Estadio Teresa Rivero.

Cordoba also held off the challenge of a La Liga club as a 2-2 draw at in form Real Sociedad saw them progress 4-2 on aggregate.

Antoine Griezmann had put the home side in front, but the visitors stunned the home supporters with second-half strikes from Kiko (65) and Sebastian Dubarbier (71).

Agirretxe struck back five minutes from time, but Sociedad could not beat Mikel Saizar again as the Segunda Division club made it through to the fifth round.

Cacereno may be out but they exited on a high after a 1-0 win at Primera Division high-flyers Malaga at the Estadio La Rosaleda.

Chapi's 37th-minute goal won the game for the visitors on the night, but after Malaga's 4-3 victory in the first leg, Manuel Pellegrini's side progressed on away goals.

Real Betis eased through after a convincing 3-0 victory over Real Valladolid.

Trailing 1-0 in the first leg, Antonio Amaya brought the hosts level in the tie after 26 minutes before Ruben Castro put them ahead after 62 minutes.

Their passage was sealed four minutes from time as Jesus Rueda put through his own net.

Osasuna needed two second-half strikes to progress 2-1 on aggregate at the expense of Sporting Gijon.

A goal down from their first encounter, Joseba Llorente put them ahead on the night in the 70th minute and six minutes later Ruben was on target to see them through.
