Ian Harte has signed a one-year deal with Championship club Bournemouth.
The former Leeds United and Sunderland defender signed on at the Goldsands Stadium after training with Eddie Howe's squad for the first time on Thursday.
Harte has made more than 200 appearances in the Premier League and featured 18 times for Reading last season against the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham.
The 35-year-old is renowned as a set piece specialist and has represented the Republic of Ireland 63 times during his career.
Harte becomes the club's second summer signing following the arrival of defender Elliott Ward last week.
Former Toffees manager David Moyes has made a move, expected for some time, to take the England left-back to Old Trafford with him.
However, the Merseysiders are in no mood to allow one of their prize assets to leave and are not prepared to negotiate.
Sky Sports sources believe United have made an offer to Everton for Baines, with reports suggesting their opening bid was between £10million and £12million.
While that figure is way below what the Toffees believe is the market value for the 27-year-old, who is now challenging Ashley Cole as England's first-choice left-back, the club consider it irrelevant as they have no intention of letting him go.
The former Manchester City youngster, 26, has agreed a two-year deal.
Grimes came through the ranks at City, but failed to make a first-team appearance and had a loan spell at Swindon before joining Millwall in 2008.
After leaving Rochdale he has decided to remain in the north west and joins fellow new boys Gareth Roberts and Euan Holden at Gigg Lane.
