American defender Oguchi Onyewu has signed with Sheffield Wednesday.

The 31-year-old agreed to a deal that runs through the rest of the season, the second-tier League Championship club said on its website Saturday.

He had signed in October with second-tier Queens Park Rangers but didn't appear in any games.

A member of the last two U.S. World Cup teams, Onyewu also has played for Metz, La Louviere, Standard Liege, Newcastle, Twente, Sporting Lisbon and Malaga.
