Germany winger Reus to join Dortmund

Germany winger Marco Reus will join Bundesliga champion Borussia Dortmund next season from Borussia Moenchengladbach.
Moenchengladbach said on its website Wednesday that the 22-year-old winger was joining his hometown club after Dortmund agreed to pay his €17.5 million buyout clause.
''It's very important to me to make clear that this isn't a decision against 'Gladbach,'' said Reus, who was born in Dortmund and whose family and girlfriend live there.
''But I decided that I want to take the next step in the coming season and play for a team that challenges for the championship and gives me the guarantee of playing in the Champions League. I see this chance in Dortmund.''
Dortmund said Reus - a transfer target for Bundesliga rival Bayern Munich - will get a five-year contract.
''In Marco Reus we are signing a very highly sought after player for the offense,'' said Dortmund sports director Michael Zorc. ''We are glad that Marco decided in favor of (the club) despite high-quality competition.''
Dortmund president Hans-Joachim Watzke said the transfer was ''soundly financed'' from the club's reserves from the previous years.
''Reus is a player who makes the difference and not only that (but) a real Dortmund lad,'' Watzke said.
Reus played in Dortmund's youth teams before moving to Rot Weiss Ahlen in 2006. He transferred to Borussia Moenchengladbach in 2009.
