Simon Kjaer's agent has confirmed the defender is happy to stay at Wolfsburg next season if the Bundesliga club want to keep the Denmark international.
Wolfsburg general manager Klaus Allofs suggested earlier in the week that Kjaer may want to leave this summer in order to play regular first-team football following the signing of Timm Klose.
However, the 25-year-old's representative Mikkel Beck has spoken to Allofs and has claimed Wolfsburg are prepared to take the risk of losing Kjaer on a free transfer in 12 months' time.
"I have had a brief phone conversation with Klaus Allofs and he told me about Simon's situation at Wolfsburg," Beck told BT.
"He stated that Simon is not for sale. Klaus Allofs said that he wants to keep Simon at the club, even though he has only got one year left on his contract.
"Even if he is aware that there is a risk that Simon will leave Wolfsburg on a free transfer, he is willing to take the risk.
"From Simon's point of view, it is an optimal situation.
"If Wolfsburg agree to sell and the right club pops up, it is fine. But, otherwise, he does not mind staying at Wolfsburg during the last year of his contract.
"Then, he will be in a great position next year, just 25 years old, with lots of international experience and available on a free transfer."
