Hamburg coach Thorsten Fink fancies his side's chances when they face Freiburg on Saturday.

The pitch inside Freiburg's Dreisamstadion may be too short for UEFA and Bundesliga regulations, but it is wide enough for Hamburg to fancy their chances of victory in the Black Forest on Saturday.

Freiburg are only allowed to stage home games at their compact home due to a special permission from the German Football League which has been renewed year on year, but while the ground is merciless to sides who play a long-ball game, for a club like Hamburg, it provides just the right conditions for three points, or at least that is what their coach Thorsten Fink hopes.

"I am looking forward to the great atmosphere in Freiburg, the wide pitch and a good Hamburg team," he said.

However, Fink knows how homely the Dreisamstadion can be to its tenants.

"Freiburg are a side with great team spirit, with a passionate coach who coached some of his players in the youth team too.

"It is particularly hard to win in Freiburg because they have nothing to lose and they have already had a few cheeky wins this season."

Fink will be without Michael Mancienne, who has the flu, meaning that Paul Scharner could make his starting debut for the northern Germany side.

Freiburg's Johannes Flum also has the flu and he is a doubt, as is Daniel Calgiuri for the same reason.

"I have several options in my head," said coach Christian Streich.

"It is going to be an incredibly difficult game, but I hope we can cope, and if everything goes well and we play well, then it would be great if we could beat Hamburg."
