Guard Victor Oladipo of the Orlando Magic was named Wednesday by the NBA as the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month for February.
Oladipo averaged 14.7 points, 4.9 assists and 4.4 rebounds during a month when the Magic posted a 5-7 record, including victories over Oklahoma City and Indiana. His top individual game came when he had 30 points and a career-high 14 assists in a double-overtime win over New York.
It’s the second time Oladipo has captured the monthly award. He was also Rookie of the Month for December.
Oladipo is averaging 13.9 points a game, second only to Michael Carter-Williams of the Philadelphia 76ers among all rookies. He had not missed a game all season until a sore left ankle kept him out of uniform Wednesday night against the Houston Rockets.
Memphis’ Nick Calathes was the winner of the award for the Western Conference.
