The Tampa Bay Lightning are targeting a weekend return for Ryan Callahan.

Coach Jon Cooper said Thursday that Callahan is on course to appear Saturday when the Lightning host the Washington Capitals at Amalie Arena. The 29-year-old winger hasn’t played since sustaining a lower-body injury in a loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Oct. 20.

”We shoot for Saturday,” Cooper said. ”We’ll see what happens.”

The nine-year veteran has three goals and five points this season. He skated with the Lightning in practices Tuesday and Wednesday, but the team said he had a planned day off Thursday.
