Catch her maybe? Maybe not.
Tampa Bay Rays ace Matt Moore is taking partial blame for singer Carly Rae Jepsen's disastrous first pitch prior to Sunday's contest against the Houston Astros.
Moore fessed up during All-Star media day at Citi Field in New York, suggesting it was his idea for the petite singer to throw from the pitcher's mound.
"She was very nervous and I actually made her go all the way back to the mound, to the rubber," Moore said. "She was going to do it from just out front. I pressured her to go all the way out, which may have been a bad decision."
Jepsen's toss barely cleared the pitcher's mound and veered toward the first base dugout.
"I don't know if she was trying to throw it hard or what, but it definitely got out of hand," Moore said.
The singer has taken the viral mishap in stride, tweeting laughs from family members.
