The Major League Baseball Players Trust Buses for Baseball program provides thousands of disadvantaged youth with an unforgettable trip to a Major League baseball game. For many, it's their first visit to a Big League ballpark.
On Wednesday, June 18 and Thursday, June 19, FOX's Sun Sports and FOX Sports Florida were proud to partner with program by gladly providing the services of the Rays and Marlins Fan Expresses.
"We can't thank FOX Sports Florida enough for joining forces with the Players Trust and players on the Rays and Marlins in providing a couple of unforgettable ballpark experiences to underserved youth from Tampa and Miami," said Jackie Bartolomeo of the Players Trust. "The children were thrilled to travel to and from the games in the FOX Sports Fan Express luxury bus."
Below please find a comprehensive recap from both games, including on-air integration and social media activation.
More than 50 local kids from the Academies of RCMA (Redlands Christian Migrant Association hopped aboard the Rays Fan Express for a VIP trip to Tropicana Field. Kelly Nash and the Rays Live pregame show were on hand to capture the experience.
An excited group of more than 50 local kids from Overtown Community were scooped up by the Marlins Fan Express and transported to Marlins Park. In addition to being greeted by Miami mascot Billy the Marlin, the kids received autographs galore from Marlins players before the game.
