NASCAR driver Kasey Kahne pays a visit to Bucs camp

Kasey Kahne paid a visit to Bucs camp Tuesday and made a special delivery to coach Greg Schiano.

Greg Schiano has a new Buccaneers helmet -- a racing one signed by NASCAR's top Sprint Cup drivers.

Driver Kasey Kahne and Daytona International Speedway president Joie Chitwood III delivered it during the opening day of Bucs minicamp Tuesday.

“I really appreciate it," Schiano said according to the Tampa Tribune. “Two great traditions – Daytona Speedway and the Tampa Bay Bucs. I’m coming to see your race; it’ll be fun."

The Coke Zero 400 at Daytona is scheduled for the night of July 6.

After the Bucs finished working out, Kahne, who drives the No. 5 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports, caught a few passes from Bucs QB Josh Freeman.

"It’s crazy how hard (NFL players) work and get beat up," Kahne told the Tribune. "I have a lot of respect for them. It’s amazing the athletes in the NFL. I’ve always been a big fan of what they do."
