And all indications pointed to this: Freeman had to play better, more consistently, for the Bucs in 2013. Clearly, he didn't.
Here's a look back at the past month in our Freeman timeline :
September 12 -- The little things are adding up for Josh Freeman. Missed meetings. Missed a team photo. The lack of a 'C' on his jersey.
September 16 -- Josh Freeman insists he's a Buccaneer for the foreseeable future. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback denied a CBS Sports report that he would likely seek to be shopped before October's trade deadline.
September 25 -- Bucs coach Greg Schiano makes the decision to bench Josh Freeman and start Mike Glennon against the Arizona Cardinals.
September 29 -- Mike Glennon was thrust under center, only four days after Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Greg Schiano made a franchise-altering choice to bench Josh Freeman, and what began as a promising afternoon for the rookie ended in the Bucs' fourth consecutive loss. Before the game, Freeman was declared inactive by the Bucs.
September 30 -- In a statement to FOX Sports, Freeman addressed reports he's in the NFL's substance-abuse program by saying he has a temporary use exemption to take Adderall for ADHD and entered the program voluntarily.
October 1 -- Fox Sports NFL Insider Alex Marvez reports that the Bucs are trying to move Josh Freeman, but that there is very little interest.
October 3 -- Josh Freeman is cut by the Bucs, ending his run with the team that drafted him with the 17th overall pick in 2009. He was reportedly fined more than $35,000 by the Bucs for conducting a national TV interview and missing meetings.
