Frazier, a Tampa native, is one of 24 players scheduled to compete for 12 roster spots during the June 14-19 training camp at the U.S. Olympic Training Center (USOTC) in Colorado Springs, Colo. Finalists for the roster spots will be announced on June 16, with the official 12-man roster to be set in the following days. The tournament will be held June 27 through July 7 in Prague, Czech Republic.
“It’s an honor to have this opportunity with USA Basketball,” Frazier said. “I’m really looking forward to competing with some of the best players in the country and trying to earn a place on the team.”
A 6-foot-4 guard, Frazier earned SEC All-Freshman Team honors last season as part of the Gators’ regular rotation, averaging 5.6 points and 3.1 rebounds with a .468 3-point field goal percentage in 36 games with one start (18.0 minutes per game).
“I’m excited for Michael to be invited,” Donovan said. “USA Basketball is always looking for good outside shooting, and he certainly provides that.”
Donovan returns to USA Basketball as head coach for the U19 FIBA Word Championships after leading last summer’s U18 team to a gold medal at the FIBA Americas. He will once again be assisted by former Gator assistant and current VCU head coach Shaka Smart, while Virginia’s Tony Bennett will serve as the other assistant coach.
