FIU basketball games will soon seem like a day at the beach

FIU is painting its basketball court to look like a beach shoreline.

Richard Pitino, men's basketball coach at Florida International University and son of Louisville coach Rick Pitino, is looking to put the program on the college basketball map.

One way FIU will draw attention in Pitino's second season is with a unique court design featuring a beach motif that the school revealed this week.

FIU radical style follows in the footsteps of Oregon, whose court is painted with a forest design.

The court won't be the only thing that's new for FIU in 2013; they'll be in a new conference as well, leaving the Sun Belt Conference for Conference USA.
