Dolphins sign DT Marvin Austin, place DT Vaughn Martin on IR

DAVIE, Fla. -- The
Miami Dolphins signed defensive tackle Marvin Austin on Tuesday afternoon.
To make room on the roster for Austin, the Dolphins placed defensive tackle
Vaughn Martin on the Reserve/Injured list.
The 6-2, 312-pound Austin joins Miami after spending the last two seasons with the New York Giants (2011-12). He was selected in the second round with the 52nd overall pick by the Giants in the 2011 NFL Draft.
In his career, Austin played in eight games, registering five tackles, for the Giants in 2012 after missing the 2011 season after being placed on the Reserve/Injured list on August 30, 2011.
Austin appeared in 38 games with 25 starts at the University of North Carolina, recording 106 tackles (59 solo) with nine sacks, 13.5 tackles for a loss, and 14 quarterback pressures.
