'Canes' Denzel Perryman, Anthony Chickillo earn ACC honors

Miami's Denzel Perryman and Anthony Chickillo earn ACC weekly player awards.

University of Miami juniors Denzel Perryman and Anthony Chickillo earned conference weekly awards following the Hurricanes' defense-led 21-16 upset of Florida, it was announced Monday.

Perryman was named Atlantic Coast Conference Linebacker of the Week. Defensive end Chickillo shared Defensive Lineman of the Week honors with North Carolina State's Art Norman.
Perryman had 13 tackles (9 solos) and led a 'Canes unit that forced five Florida turnovers and held the Gators scoreless on 4 of 6 trips to the Red Zone on Saturday.

Chickillo contributed five tackles, a sack and a tackle for loss in his 23rd consecutive start for the Hurricanes.
Miami, unranked a week ago, is No. 15 in the AP Top 25. The 'Canes (2-0) are idle this week before playing Savannah State at Sun Life Stadium on Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. ET.
