Fantasy Football 2186 43 Fantasy 2013: Top 10 Starts and Sits of Week 5 31923948 Sit - Scott Chandler Sit+-+Scott+Chandler Fantasy Football

Much like Vernon Davis, Scott Chandler has a tough defense this week. The Browns' defense (yes, Cleveland) allows an average of 5.0 fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends this season. Even in last week’s win, Chandler only recorded two catches for 28 yards. In fact, Chandler’s worst games this year are when his team is victorious. In Week 2, the Bills won and he tallied three catches for 10 yards. Plus, I would avoid starting anybody this Thursday - with the exception of Jordan Cameron. – Adam Meyer

Timothy T. Ludwig - USA TODAY Sports http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/10/01/startsit10_20131001120617101_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/10/01/startsit10_20131001120617101_107_80.JPG
Fantasy Football 2186 43 Fantasy 2013: Top 10 Starts and Sits of Week 5 31923946 Sit - Vernon Davis Sit+-+Vernon+Davis Fantasy Football

The breakdown for this benching is simple: Houston allows 3.5 fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends. “But, Vernon Davis is considered more as a wide receiver in San Francisco.” Well, the Texans secondary allows only 15 fantasy ppg to opposing receivers (third-best). The Texans know how to stop the passing attack. Kaepernick was decent against St. Louis, but we’ll definitely see if he’s “back” after this contest. – Adam Meyer

Christopher Hanewinckel - USA TODAY Sports http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/10/01/startsit9_2013100112061799_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/10/01/startsit9_2013100112061799_107_80.JPG
Fantasy Football 2186 43 Fantasy 2013: Top 10 Starts and Sits of Week 5 31923947 Sit - T.Y. Hilton Sit+-+T.Y.+Hilton Fantasy Football

Until you hear different, I will always advise that you sit the WR2 facing Seattle. Last week, I suggested benching Andre Johnson and he was still able to record nine catches for 110 yards. AJ is an elite receiver and should be treated as such. Just like Reggie Wayne is an elite receiver and should not be benched this week. DeAndre Hopkins is not on the same level as Johnson and Wayne and only caught two balls for 27 yards. T.Y. Hilton is better than Hopkins, but still not at the "elite" status. – Adam Meyer

Andrew Weber - USA TODAY Sports http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/10/01/startsit8_20131001120617100_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/10/01/startsit8_20131001120617100_107_80.JPG
Fantasy Football 2186 43 Fantasy 2013: Top 10 Starts and Sits of Week 5 31922092 Sit - Steven Jackson Sit+-+Steven+Jackson Fantasy Football

If you were watching the Sunday night game, then you might have heard that Steven Jackson is planning to make his return this week. Even if he expects to suit up against the Jets on Monday night, I would bench him. New York is fifth-best in rushing defense and allows only eight fantasy points per game to opposing running backs. So, I would include Jacquizz Rodgers and Jason Snelling in this benching, too. – Adam Meyer

Daniel Shirey - USA TODAY Sports http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/10/01/startsit7_20131001120618102_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/10/01/startsit7_20131001120618102_107_80.JPG
Fantasy Football 2186 43 Fantasy 2013: Top 10 Starts and Sits of Week 5 31923945 Sit - Jay Cutler Sit+-+Jay+Cutler Fantasy Football

A late surge of offense during garbage time allowed Jay Cutler to tally 317 passing yards and two TDs (and a two-point conversion) in Detroit last Sunday. This week, he has an even tougher task against the Saints. Quarterbacks are scoring 10.5 fantasy points against New Orleans, second-fewest in the league (Colts are allowing 10 fantasy ppg). – Adam Meyer

Jerry Lai - USA TODAY Sports http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/10/01/startsit6_20131001120617100_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/10/01/startsit6_20131001120617100_107_80.JPG
Fantasy Football 2186 43 Fantasy 2013: Top 10 Starts and Sits of Week 5 31923938 Start - Sean McGrath Start+-+Sean+McGrath Fantasy Football

As soon as Sean McGrath caught his first touchdown of the season last week, I knew I would get several questions about the tight end. My first instinct was that McGrath was just a flash-in-the-pan TE with a rare TD. Then, he was targeted three times, then four, then five times. Brent Celek made a name for himself in Andy Reid's Philly offense and Alex Smith relied on Vernon Davis constantly in San Francisco. With injuries to Tony Moeaki and Anthony Fasano, it was only a matter of time until a solid Chiefs' tight end emerged from the pack. – Adam Meyer

John Geliebter - USA TODAY Sports http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/10/01/startsit5_2013100112003489_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/10/01/startsit5_2013100112003489_107_80.JPG
Fantasy Football 2186 43 Fantasy 2013: Top 10 Starts and Sits of Week 5 31923940 Start - Hakeem Nicks Start+-+Hakeem+Nicks Fantasy Football

Victor Cruz stole the show for the Giants' offense last Sunday as he totaled 164 receiving yards on 10 receptions. However, Hakeem Nicks was still targeted nine times. Nicks recorded three catches for 33 yards. While that isn’t much, at least he improved from his “all-zero” performance against Carolina the week before. This week, he gets an Eagles secondary that allows a league-high 35.5 fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers. – Adam Meyer

Jim O'Connor - USA TODAY Sports http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/10/01/startsit4_2013100112003387_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/10/01/startsit4_2013100112003387_107_80.JPG
Fantasy Football 2186 43 Fantasy 2013: Top 10 Starts and Sits of Week 5 31923939 Start - Daryl Richardson Start+-+Daryl+Richardson Fantasy Football

MJD won’t be the only player to benefit with a balanced attack Sunday. His counterpart, Daryl Richardson, should put together a solid day on the ground, too. After DRich left the Week 3 game eary with a foot injury, he was able to start Thursday. Also, Isaiah Pead was a surprise to find on the inactive list against San Fran, which meant more opportunities for Richardson. Jacksonville’s defense allows an NFL-worst 164.3 rushing yards per game. – Adam Meyer

Scott Rovak - USA TODAY Sports http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/10/01/startsit3_2013100112003691_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/10/01/startsit3_2013100112003691_107_80.JPG
Fantasy Football 2186 43 Fantasy 2013: Top 10 Starts and Sits of Week 5 31922089 Start - Maurice Jones-Drew Start+-+Maurice+Jones-Drew Fantasy Football

Though it’s true that Maurice Jones-Drew hasn’t rushed for more than 45 yards in a game this season, I expect that to change after Week 5. This Sunday, the Jaguars head to St. Louis, where the Rams allow 25.5 fantasy points per game to opposing running backs (NFL-worst). The 0-4 Jags trail early into games, which causes them to abandon the running attack. Against the Rams, the Jags should be able to stick to a game plan and not resort to passing on every down. – Adam Meyer

Melina Vastola - USA TODAY Sports http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/10/01/startsit2_2013100112003490_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/10/01/startsit2_2013100112003490_107_80.JPG
Fantasy Football 2186 43 Fantasy 2013: Top 10 Starts and Sits of Week 5 31923984 Start - Philip Rivers Start+-+Philip+Rivers Fantasy Football

In two out of the four Chargers' games this season, Philip Rivers has surpassed the 400-yard passing mark. In three out of four games this year, he’s thrown three touchdowns or more. Next, his Chargers travel to Oakland. Rivers is 11-3 in 14 career games against the Raiders. In those games, he averaged 221.7 passing yards per game. Plus, Oakland is allowing 22.5 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks. – Adam Meyer
