Fantasy Football 2186 2720 Fantasy 2013: Top 10 Starts and Sits of Week 4 31913412 Sit - Tony Gonzalez Sit+-+Tony+Gonzalez Fantasy Football

Hopefully, even though you drafted Tony Gonzalez, you won the sweepstakes on either Julian Thomas or Jordon Cameron because this benching affects your team. Other than the fact that Gonzo hasn’t caught more than 40 yards of offense in a game this season, his Week 4 opponent is stingy against the tight ends. So far, the Patriots have averaged one point per game to the opposing TE. Tampa Bay really doesn’t have a TE worth any fantasy value, but Scott Chandler and Kellen Winslow, Jr. combined for 54 yards of offense and zero TDs. Gonzalez is leaps and bounds better than the previous tight ends mention, but it’s still worth considering this week. – Adam Meyer

Fantasy Football 2186 2720 Fantasy 2013: Top 10 Starts and Sits of Week 4 31913413 Sit - Larry Fitzgerald Sit+-+Larry+Fitzgerald Fantasy Football

Two games into the season, Tampa Bay cornerback Darelle Revis expressed his anger for the zone defense Bill Sheridan was employing. I say “was” because the Bucs’ DC bought in to Revis’ strength for Week 3. The result: Julian Edelman ended the day with 44 receiving yards and zero TDs. Next, Larry Fitzgerald has a one-way ticket to Revis Island. Also, add the fact that Fitz is dealing with a hamstring injury and the decision to bench him on your fantasy team is even more tempting. – Adam Meyer

Fantasy Football 2186 2720 Fantasy 2013: Top 10 Starts and Sits of Week 4 31913414 Sit - Andre Johnson Sit+-+Andre+Johnson Fantasy Football

First, a concussion kept Andre Johnson from producing in Week 2, now it’s a bruised shin that seems to be the problem. Johnson had a hard time playing through the pain and only managed 36 receiving yards. This Sunday, Houston hosts Seattle. Though the Texans have the luxury of not playing in the offense-busting sounds of the 12th man, the Seahawks defense is still tough. This season, Seattle has allowed the fewest fantasy points to wide receivers, with 12 points per game…that’s including all of the receivers, not 12 per WR. – Adam Meyer

Fantasy Football 2186 2720 Fantasy 2013: Top 10 Starts and Sits of Week 4 31918747 Sit - C.J. Spiller Sit+-+C.J.+Spiller Fantasy Football

In all fairness to the infamous preseason quote uttered by Nathaniel Hackett, “We’re going to give him the ball until he throws up,” C.J. Spiller didn’t start off on the right foot. First of all, he’s working with a rookie quarterback, so defenses will look to make the Bills one dimensional. Secondly, fumbling puts running backs in the dog house (ask David Wilson). Third, and most importantly, Spiller is banged up. Last week, he was benched in the third quarter and diagnosed with a quad injury. Spiller’s Bills host Baltimore this Sunday, a team which allows only 74.7 yards on the ground and zero rushing touchdowns this season. – Adam Meyer

Fantasy Football 2186 2720 Fantasy 2013: Top 10 Starts and Sits of Week 4 31918746 Sit - Colin Kaepernick Sit+-+Colin+Kaepernick Fantasy Football

Ever since Colin Kaepernick threw for over 400 yards in a Week 1 victory over Green Bay, he’s been severely pedestrian. In Week 2, the Seattle D wreaked havoc on the 49ers’ QB, holding CK7 to 7.05 fantasy points. The following Sunday, owners were waiting for a bounce-back performance. Instead, Kaepernick passed for 150 yards and zero TDs. Now, he plays the dreaded Thursday night game. Looking back to 2012 and the start of 2013 season, the only quarterback to throw for three touchdowns was Josh Freeman. Every other QB (Vick, Brady, Rivers, Luck, Wilson, Eli Manning, and Newton) could only max out at two passing TDs, tops. I’m not counting Week 1 Thursday quarterbacks, because they had plenty of time to prepare. – Adam Meyer

Fantasy Football 2186 2720 Fantasy 2013: Top 10 Starts and Sits of Week 4 31913410 Start - Heath Miller Start+-+Heath+Miller Fantasy Football

Ben Roethlisberger needs his TE healthy (along with his O-line, and RB, etc.) to run a successful offense. Heath Miller, recovering from offseason knee surgery, returned to the Steelers starting lineup Sunday night and caught three passes for 35 yards. Expect even more production this week when Pittsburgh travels to Minnesota. This season, the Vikings have allowed an average of 16.33 fantasy points per game to the tight end position. Jordan Cameron torched Minnesota for two TDs from Brian Hoyer (and one from Spencer Lanning). I think Roethlisberger can manage similar results this Sunday. – Adam Meyer

Fantasy Football 2186 2720 Fantasy 2013: Top 10 Starts and Sits of Week 4 31913411 Start - Torrey Smith Start+-+Torrey+Smith Fantasy Football

I’ve been down on Torrey Smith all season thus far and am now seeing the perfect time to start him. This Sunday, Baltimore heads to Buffalo to face a defense that has allowed 31 fantasy points per game to the opponent’s receiving corps. So far, Smith hasn’t eclipsed the 100-yard mark or even scored a touchdown, but I think all of that changes this week. Start Smith, Marlon Brown, and even Joe Flacco when they play Buffalo. – Adam Meyer

Fantasy Football 2186 2720 Fantasy 2013: Top 10 Starts and Sits of Week 4 31913408 Start - Bilal Powell Start+-+Bilal+Powell Fantasy Football

Believe it or not, all NFL teams can provide fantasy football value. I was waiting to see which running back would emerge as the lead guy in New York before I endorsed the Jets as a fantasy contributor. Thanks to Chris Ivory’s hamstring, Bilal Powell is startable. Against the Bills, Powell ran the ball 27 times for 149 yards (that’s 5.5 yards per attempt). His opponent, Tennessee, didn’t have to deal with a decent running back last week (sorry, owners of Ryan Mathews) or in Week 1 (Pittsburgh). However, when the Titans played Houston, Arian Foster and Ben Tate combined for 172 yards and a TD. – Adam Meyer

Fantasy Football 2186 2720 Fantasy 2013: Top 10 Starts and Sits of Week 4 31918745 Start - Michael Vick Start+-+Michael+Vick Fantasy Football

In Week 3, the Eagles and Broncos played on opposite ends of the schedule. Philly hosted Andy Reid and the Chiefs on Thursday night, while Peyton and Co. played against Oakland on Monday. While Manning doesn’t necessarily need the time to prepare, his defense does. Chip Kelly’s new offense is still working out the kinks, and the extra days could only benefit his planning. The Broncos D kept Darren McFadden to 0.8 yards per carry, but Terrelle Pryor ran for 9.0 yards per attempt. It will be interesting to see these two up-tempo offenses square off and I would want any, and all, players started for my fantasy team(s). – Adam Meyer
