What’s good everybody? The man, the myth, the legend - aka John Halpin - is on vacation this week, so I’ll be tagging in for the big man at 2 PM EST. Feel free to send your questions early, and see you at 2!

Thanks for spending your afternoon with us. We'll be here for the next hour answering your baseball queries, along with the occasional fantasy football question as well. Let's get this train rolling...

If you don't have faith, others in your league certainly will, so from the standpoint, I'd give it a go,

JBeall:
from a talent perspective, I think Cole has the tools to be a competent arm this summer. Pitching in PNC Park will help, and his velocity should correlate to some solid K numbers. The Pirates offense won't provide much support, so wins could be scant, but I think Cole is still worth the investment

JBeall:
I would stop hanging out with whoever sent you this proposal, because they obviously don't respect you as a fantasy player, friend...even human being. In the words of Chuck Barkley, "There's a turrible, TRBL call right there." Trout is the No. 1 overall player, think he warrants more than that

hello joel, my league only allows 8 pitching starts a week. i will be activating wheeler next week and i need to drop one of these guys. liriano, wacha, dickey or medlen [if he does get moved to the pen]thanks

Thursday June 13, 2013  2:05  john

2:06

JBeall:
Dickey would be the call at the moment. Obviously Medlen's anticipated move back to the bullpen could throw this out of whack, and I know the fog in Chicago had something to do with the effectiveness of Dickey's knuckler. Unfortunately, I would put more stock into that excuse if it was an isolated incident...Dickey gets the bump to the bench

Hey Joel! Need your help in a 12 team roto keeper league. I'm in last place digging to get competitive. Traded away Cano/Corbing for Machado/Cueto and draft pick and now have Longo. Would you give up Longo for a package around Rizzo/Arenado or Sal Perez/Oscar Taveras. Only get 10 keepers and have a good young roster going. Just want to sell high since i cant keep longo. What are your thoughts? Also have Castro, Heyward, BJ Up im waiting on to trade when they are hitting...hopefully. Trying to figure out this keeper league. Thanks!

Thursday June 13, 2013  2:06  Nick

2:08

JBeall:
Longoria is young enough, and more importantly, good enough, to justify a keeper spot. If anything, he would be on the short list of definite "keeps" given the shortage of decent third basemen. Keep Longoria on your roster, no matter what the package

In need of a closer.Would you trade Josh Johnson for Bobby Parnell?

Thursday June 13, 2013  2:08  bill

2:09

JBeall:
Johnson has a well-documented injury history and hasn't been great this year. However, his name recognition, plus ceiling, should equate to a better haul than Parnell. See if you can get a little more bang for your buck

Thursday June 13, 2013  2:09  GT

JBeall:
nope. Cozart is starting to come around, has a shot at 20 HRs playing in Great American Ball Park. Revisit once Rutledge gets recalled to the majors

in 14 team 5x5 league- give up jordan zimmerman & freese for Pujols & hughes or Adrian gonz & DeLarosa? Too much? Have Waino, Minor & Lee as big 3 in rotation.

JBeall:
WAY too much. Wrote about this today (ME! ME! ME! - http://msn.foxsports.com/fantasy/baseball/story/analyzing-starting-pitchers-Hisashi-Iwakuma-Mat-Latos-Kris-Medlen-061213 -) but for whatever reason, don't think people give Zimmermann the proper love. Guy SHOULD start the All-Star Game this season. Pujols is a good, not great, start at 1B, at Hughes is barely worth the roster spot. That second offering is worse than the first. Hold out for more return for your assets

Miami - yes. SD - perhaps in deep leagues, and our boy Jedd going to the DL doesn't help their chances, but the Friars own a quietly effective offense, so not the must-start that the schedule conveys

JBeall:
back-to-back Brett comments, there ya go son...Halpin and I have discussed on his podcast before, but it usually takes two years for a player to fully recover from Tommy John. Wainwright is his best hope for replication, and it took the Cardinals ace 18 months to regain his mojo. However, I don't hink Ogando is pitching anytime soon...I'd look at Gee then Beachy

you don't want to go too crazy over a small sample size, but even in his abbreviated appearances, you could pull better than Lynn in a keeper status. and if Price is just a ROS haul, you can go better in that endeavor as well

i think a bump in the road, it would help if dale sveum would give the cat a day off to get his head right, heaven forbid...hold onto him, if you sell now, you're getting 50 cents on the dollar, and there's so few good SS out there, you just have to hope he rediscovers his magic at the plate

Heat, but think the Spurs win in six. more importantly, will Pat Riley have the stones to trade Bosh to the Bobcats for the No. 4 pick, amnesty Wade, then build around LeBron, either Bennett or Oladipo, and add two OTHER max contracts, maybe Howard and Paul? Now THAT, my friends, is a super team

Thursday June 13, 2013  2:35  Maytag

2:36

JBeall:
pretty solid rotation Maytag. Though he's in for eventual regression, Lackey's been too good thus far to just drop, may be able to get a bit in return on the trade market

JBeall:
I would trade now if you can get anything remotely close to 80 percent of his preseason value. that's one player I don't think his regaining All-Star form this year. Swing is too loopy, his type of ailments don't just magically go away either

Thursday June 13, 2013  2:41  Joe

The Cardinals are rolling, so Taveras would need an injury to get the call for full-time duty. As for Myers - TB wasn't very pleased with his progress when he came over from Kansas City. I know, a Royals prospect disappointing, imagine that. I still think he'll get the call sooner rather than later, but don't expect big things when he hits the big-league ball club

Not sure how you get Neal from Joel, but I dig....Butler, especially with George Brett taking names and kicking butt as the Royals new hitting coach. Howards looking VERY old at the moment, whereas Prado - eh, its Prado, you know? Even when he turns it around, his main asset is position eligibility. view him as a replacement player at the moment

12 Team Mixed Points league: Which 4 SPs do I start next week? Burnett (@CIN), Cashner (LAD, @SF), Minor (NYM), Straily (@TEX, @SEA), Cole (@LAA), Fernandez (@ARZ), Marcum (@ATL), Wilson (SEA) or Phelps (TB). Thanks

JBeall:
Minor is the only no-doubter...after that, Phelps, Wilson and Burnett. Like Straily, but not when he's outside of O.co Coliseum, Fernandez in the desert sounds like trouble - same with Cole against the Angels. Not crazy about Burnett when he's not in Pittsburgh, but he's your best fourth bet

Know this is a weird question, play in a 10-teqm, 5x5 AL Roto where we throw in the five NL West teams....plus we get one pitcher and one offensive player from the rest of the NL. Replaced the injured Stanton with David Wright...who's the better bet ROS?

Thursday June 13, 2013  2:51  DodgerTom

with Stanton back, I'd hold onto the MIA outfielder. Wright's been good but nothing special this year. At worse, Stanton has the name recognition where you could pull of a trade later if he begins to heat up
