Fantasy Baseball 2187 43 Top 10 Fantasy Baseball Start and Sits: Week 7 31745940 Sit - John Buck Sit+-+John+Buck Fantasy Baseball

It may be time to turn the page on the wave that was John Buck. Going six straight games without a home run proves he is mortal, but not even mustering an RBI just makes him below-average. Buck was 2-19 (.105) last week and his season average has plummeted to .231. It doesn’t help his case when Anthony Recker fills in and goes 2-3 with a home run on Friday. Mets’ fans are still holding out hope that Travis d’Arnaud will play in “the bigs” this year. Maybe fantasy owners need to start looking for a replacement as well. – Adam Meyer

Fantasy Baseball 2187 43 Top 10 Fantasy Baseball Start and Sits: Week 7 31745942 Sit - Dexter Fowler Sit+-+Dexter+Fowler Fantasy Baseball

The Colorado Rockies are happy to be starting a new week after going 2-5 in the last seven games. Troy Tulowitzki went 2-13, Carlos Gonzalez batted 3-21, and Dexter Fowler hit 2-21. While I would hesitate to mention benching the first two names listed, I have zero qualms advising you to sit Fowler. Earlier in the season Dexter Fowler was being regarded as the best leadoff hitter in the game. Now, the Rockies will head to Wrigley which just happens to be Fowler’s least favorite NL park. In seven games at the North side of Chicago, he is 2-14 (.143). – Adam Meyer

Fantasy Baseball 2187 43 Top 10 Fantasy Baseball Start and Sits: Week 7 31745941 Sit - B.J. Upton Sit+-+B.J.+Upton Fantasy Baseball

It’s hard to imagine anyone, male or female, with the last name “Upton” being on a negative list but unfortunately here sits B.J. Upton. Bossman Junior Upton had a rough seven days for Atlanta: 3-20 (.150), with one run and one RBI. Add his 13 strikeouts in 23 at-bats and you officially have a problem. Will Venable, Oswaldo Arcia, and Emilio Bonifacio are decent replacements while Upton recovers from this struggle. – Adam Meyer

Fantasy Baseball 2187 43 Top 10 Fantasy Baseball Start and Sits: Week 7 31745943 Sit - Austin Jackson Sit+-+Austin+Jackson Fantasy Baseball

Currently, Austin Jackson is day-to-day with a sore right hamstring which is more than likely contributing to his slump. In the beginning of the season, Action Jackson was a turning into a steal for fantasy baseball owners. He was being mentored by Torii Hunter, batting in front of four great hitters, and things were looking great. I know it was early, but on April 16th Jackson was batting .393. Since that day he’s had only three multi-hit games and hitless in eight games. I’m aware that Detroit can put up crooked numbers at will, but until Jackson is back to 100 percent I’d look into free agency for a hotter outfielder. – Adam Meyer

Fantasy Baseball 2187 43 Top 10 Fantasy Baseball Start and Sits: Week 7 31745944 Sit - Wilin Rosario Sit+-+Wilin+Rosario Fantasy Baseball

Catchers won’t make or break your fantasy baseball season, but they can influence a weekly matchup. Given that the team’s backstop will miss at least two games a week (maybe fewer in AL parks), I’ve tried to make it a point to draft the DH/1B-type of catchers (Carlos Santana, Mike Napoli, Victor Martinez, etc.) as opposed to the full-time catchers. Maybe that’s why more and more catchers land on my “sit list.” Wilin Rosario has three hits in 32 ABs in May (.094). With Ryan Doumit (3 HR, 7 RBI) and Jarrod Saltalamacchia (.444) coming off of a solid week, you may want to sit Rosario and look elsewhere for now. – Adam Meyer

Fantasy Baseball 2187 43 Top 10 Fantasy Baseball Start and Sits: Week 7 31745936 Start - Hector Santiago Start+-+Hector+Santiago Fantasy Baseball

Gavin Floyd’s elbow injury opened the door for Hector Santiago to steal a start, or two, and he’s taking full advantage of his opportunities. In 2012, he started in four games and allowed four earned runs in those performances (three in one game). Did I mention he struck out 26 batters in those games? This year, Santiago has started twice, allowing one earned run, and punching out 14 hitters. Eventually, he’ll be a continuous member of the White Sox rotation. Next, Santiago faces the Twins and Angels in a two-start week. – Adam Meyer

Fantasy Baseball 2187 43 Top 10 Fantasy Baseball Start and Sits: Week 7 31745935 Start - Ubaldo Jimenez Start+-+Ubaldo+Jimenez Fantasy Baseball

When Ubaldo Jimenez shutout Kansas City at the end of April it was a fluke. After he struck out eight in 5 2/3 innings and beat Oakland it was luck. Then, Jimenez K’d eight more and allowed one earned run in a victory over Detroit. That was skill, and possibly an inclining of the type of pitcher Cleveland wanted to trade for two years ago. Jimenez’s next probable start is at home against Seattle. He is 2-0 in three starts when facing the Mariners and he’ll likely contend against the struggling rookie, Brandon Maurer. – Adam Meyer

Fantasy Baseball 2187 43 Top 10 Fantasy Baseball Start and Sits: Week 7 31745937 Start - Mitch Moreland Start+-+Mitch+Moreland Fantasy Baseball

Fantasy baseball owners are finding Mitch Moreland’s name on more and more lists recently. At FOXSports.com, he was on my H2H Thread piece on Friday and John Halpin’s Waiver Wire Pick-up post. Now, Moreland makes my “start list.” In his last nine games, Moreland has tallied 14 hits including: three homers, one triple, and two doubles. Excluding October (only played in five games), May is Moreland’s best month. In his career, Moreland has played in 60 games and 190 ABs in May and his stat line reads a .326 AVG (the only month he bats higher than .300). - Adam Meyer

Fantasy Baseball 2187 43 Top 10 Fantasy Baseball Start and Sits: Week 7 31745939 Start - Justin Morneau Start+-+Justin+Morneau Fantasy Baseball

The 2006 AL MVP has been on a drought. Justin Morneau went from four-straight 100+ RBI seasons, to 163 total RBI the last three years combined. This May, he’s driven 13 runners home and 10 the last week. Morneau’s inability to hit homers is still an issue, only two this season, but his batting average is hovering closer and closer to .300. Morneau is currently in the midst of a nine-game hitting streak and tabulated 11 hits in his last 28 at-bats (.393). The Minnesota homestand continues this week, facing Chicago and Boston, and Morneau is batting .351 at Target Field in 2013. – Adam Meyer

Fantasy Baseball 2187 43 Top 10 Fantasy Baseball Start and Sits: Week 7 31745938 Start - Will Venable Start+-+Will+Venable Fantasy Baseball

Normally, when a player hits three home runs in a week it’s because he smacks two in one game or it’s just a three-game hot streak. That is not the case for Will Venable. The outfielder for the Padres went HR-none-HR-none-HR in a five-game stretch, while batting .389. Venable’s three stolen bases last week was just the cherry on top. San Diego will continue to have a DH when they travel to Baltimore. While Venable’s 2013 numbers suggest he hates road games (.146 road/.327 home), throughout his career his stats are better away (.270 away/.235 home). – Adam Meyer
