After a brief rental period with the Cubs, Aroldis Chapman returns to the Yankees as the game’s best closer. Chapman recorded 36 saves in 2016 and routinely breaks the radar gun with 100+ mile per hour heat that leaves batters helplessly flailing in the batter’s box.
Andrew Miller electrified baseball fans last postseason, but his stock takes a hit mostly because of his role with Cleveland. Hard to have a relief pitcher in the top tier when he may not get many save opportunities. That said, Cody Allen will be the Indians closer and have plenty of opportunities with an improved offense hopefully providing plenty of save opportunities. Britton, Jansen, and Melancon all had stellar 2016 seasons with 47 saves a piece.
