Choi (suspension) has been transferred to Double-A Jackson and added to the 40-man roster, MLB.com's Greg Johns reports.
Choi was handed a 50-game suspension for PED use in mid-April, but will return to the action in the Mariners' farm system after being removed from the restricted list. Choi posted a .295 batting average with 18 homers in 2013, and had a .394 average over 10 games for Triple-A Tacoma before being dealt the suspension. The 23-year-old could be a dark horse candidate for a call-up if Justin Smoak's quadriceps injury ends up requiring a DL stint, although Choi will likely need a handful of tune-up games first. James Paxton was transferred to the 60-day DL in a corresponding move to make room for Choi on the 40-man roster.
