Harvey has inflammation in his right elbow and will be shut down for the remainder of the season as a precaution, MLB.com's Britt Ghiroli reports.
Originally it was thought that the Orioles would just have Harvey skip a turn through the rotation, but the injury is apparently serious enough that the team won't take any chances with the prized pitching prospect. There was a chance that if Harvey had kept pitching as well as he was, he could be promoted form Low-A Delmarva to High-A before the end of the season, but he will now likely start next season back at Low-A. This certainly dings his trade value in dynasty leagues, as elbow inflammation can lead to a more serious diagnosis down the line. However, one only needs to look at fellow O's pitching prospect Dylan Bundy to see a player who underwent Tommy John surgery and is now back to being one of the most coveted pitching prospects in the game.
