Wood (9-10) took the loss Tuesday against the Mets, giving up three runs over seven innings while striking out six batters.
Illustrating just how excellent Wood has been of late, the three earned runs were the most he's allowed since July 25, spanning five starts. He probably deserved a better fate Tuesday, but the two-run homer he served up to Juan Lagares proved to be the difference. Wood's rise to prominence in the face of Mike Minor's struggles has been a major reason the Braves have managed to stay on the periphery of the Wild Card race.
