Russell will play in his final Arizona Fall League game Thursday, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.
There is no injury in play, rather the Cubs have just decided it's in everyone's best interests to shut Russell down following Thursday's game. The 20-year-old has gone 8-for-42 (.190 average) with a double, a homer, eight RBI and 12 strikeouts so far in the Fall League, while seeing time at second base. He hit .294/.332/.536 with 12 homers and 36 RBI in just 50 games after joining Double-A Tennessee in July.
