Wacha (shoulder) will undergo another MRI on Monday, and if the results are positive, he will begin a throwing program shortly thereafter, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Wacha has been shut down for over a month now due to the shoulder injury, but it sounds like he could start back up with his throwing program as early as next week. GM John Mozeliak left the door open for Wacha to possibly return as a reliever, but went on to say "I have a feeling he'll come back as a starter." The Cardinals moved Wacha to the 60-day DL on Wednesday, making him ineligible to return until early September.
