With two hits during Sunday's season-ending loss to the Mets, Altuve secured the AL batting title with a .341 batting average.
The 24-year-old second baseman became the first Astros player to capture the batting crown, finishing six points ahead of runner-up Victor Martinez (.335). Altuve led the majors with 225 hits, most by second baseman in a single season since 1936. His 67 multi-hit games also led the league, while his 56 stolen bases were tops in the AL. Quite simply, Altuve had one of the greatest offensive seasons in club history.
