Brothers has pitched in each of the last three games for the Rockies, turning in scoreless appearances on each occasion.
While the minor scoreless streak has helped Brothers lower his ERA from 4.50 to 4.23, it's hardly an indication he's much closer to unseating LaTroy Hawkins as the team's closer. The hard-throwing lefty has given up five hits and a walk over those appearances, covering a total of 2.1 innings. Hawkins, meanwhile, hasn't been overpowering by any means with a feeble 3.8 K/9 rate, but he's induced enough groundballs to remain the most reliable reliever out of the bullpen for the Rockies this season. Those outside of NL-only leagues who have been stashing Brothers as a closer-in-waiting might be better served cutting bait and filling needs elsewhere.
