Teheran gave up two runs on six hits over five innings while striking out six and walking three in a winning effort against Pittsburgh on Wednesday.
While Teheran needed 96 pitches to get 15 outs, he was much better than Jeff Locke on Wednesday, which was enough to push Teheran to his 14th victory of the season. Teheran's second full season with the Braves finishes with a slight drop in strikeout rate (from 22.0% to 21.0%), but a stable walk rate (5.8% BB%) and a lower WHIP (1.08) than his 2013 campaign thanks in part of a .227 batting average against. Teheran continued to maintain a good swinging-strike rate (10.7%), and appears positioned to serve as the Braves' staff ace for the foreseeable future.
